Homemade biscuits with grandma

Aubrey loves grandmas house; so we decided to go over for the afternoon today.  Mom and I sewed some Christmas gifts while Aubrey played with moms jewelry.  I had brought some of the split pea soup over to have for dinner but we needed something else with it.  Well what is better than freshly baked biscuits?
Mom volunteered to make them so I pulled up a stool to watch her and Aubrey bake away!  I haven't really seen anything like it in my moms kitchen...what a site! It was so precious to watch the two of them....what special memories!

The recipe they used was as follows:
2cups flour
1tbsp baking powder
3/4 tsp salt
1/2tsp baking soda
5 tbsp vegetable shorting
1cup of buttermilk (we used plain yogurt thinned with a little half and half)

Mix all the dry ingredients together

Roll up your sleeves to add and cut in the shortening.

Stir in the yogurt; take a spoonful of it Aubrey's case!

Pour the dough out on a floured surface; knead it together.
Cut them out using a floured cup.
Put them on a parchment lined baking sheet.
Bake on 425F for 12-15 minutes.
Serve warm and enjoy!!!!!
